Tuesday 22 September, 10 - 5 p.m.: Workshop: Needle Turn Appliqué with Yasmeen Branton of Sand and Stars

Museum of the Home, 136 Kingsland Rd, London E2 8EA, United Kingdom

Yasmeen Branton has over fifteen years of experience working in textiles and has been immersed in making from a very early age. Her lifelong love of art, design and fabric developed throughout her education, leading her to art college and ultimately to a Foundation Degree at the Royal School of Needlework. It was there that she discovered a deep passion for hand sewing, opening the door to a range of creative opportunities, including work as an embroidery assistant within the film and television industry.

Through her business, Sand & Stars, Yasmeen designs sewing patterns and tutorials and leads workshops that encourage others to approach hand sewing with confidence and enjoyment. She is passionate about helping fellow makers discover the restorative nature of working with fabric, needle and thread, and has become particularly known for her delicate needle-turn appliqué, a technique that allows her to create work that feels both thoughtful and quietly expressive.

Event Description
Yasmeen will lead an immersive workshop introducing the traditional art of needle-turn appliqué alongside classic embroidery techniques. Over the course of the day, participants will learn how simple fabric shapes can be transformed through careful stitch, colour and surface detail, creating work that feels both personal and timeless.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with sewing experience, the session offers practical guidance on materials, tools and technique in a calm and supportive setting. Working at a thoughtful pace, guests will have the opportunity to build confidence in hand sewing while experiencing the meditative rhythm of slow craft. All materials will be provided, allowing participants to spend the day fully absorbed in the pleasure of making.

Event Cancellation Policy
All bookings are non-refundable. However, if you let us know that you are unable to attend an event you have booked at least two weeks before the event, we will open up your place. If we find another participant, you will be offered a credit note.
