Saturday 13 September, 10-4 p.m.: Workshop: Indigo Dyeing with Daisy Gray - SOLD OUT

TICKETS TO THIS EVENT ARE NOW SOLD OUT

Joss Graham Gallery, 10 Eccleston St, London SW1W 9LT

Delve into the hands-on art of indigo dyeing in this intimate full-day workshop at the Joss Graham Gallery. Participants will be introduced to traditional Shibori techniques on silk, with the option to bring a personal item for dyeing.

Led by an in-house natural dye specialist, the workshop offers both technical instruction and creative freedom in a relaxed garden courtyard setting. Whether you're new to dyeing or looking to deepen your skills, this session provides a beautiful introduction to working with one of the world’s most iconic natural dyes.

Daisy Gray is a London-based artist whose work explores the quiet interplay of colour, texture and material through natural dye processes. With a background in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts and further study at The Villa Arson in Nice, her practice is rooted in observation, research and making by hand. She works primarily with silk, paper, thread and string, often dyeing with indigo and other natural pigments. Her interest in mordanting and dye traditions has taken her to Italy, where she studied under weaver Sissi in a restored villa in the Alps, deepening her understanding of global dye practices.

Joss Graham Gallery opened its doors in Eccleston Street in 1980, and has a well-deserved reputation for rare and beautiful textiles from across the globe. Part old-fashioned antiques shop and part handmade textile specialists, Joss Graham Gallery contains two floors of expertly curated fabrics, wall hangings, kilims, cushions and costume, and contemporary collections of clothing from established and emerging designers in India and elsewhere.

All materials provided, and all skill levels are welcome. You are welcome to bring a personal item for dyeing. You will leave with a hand-dyed silk piece of your own, a deeper understanding of indigo and Shibori techniques, and the confidence to continue exploring natural dyeing.
